Blogging Resources

This page contains affiliate links.

Hey there!

It’s Tabitha and I am sharing my favorite blogging resources with you because I totally understand how tough this blogging career can be when you are trying to balance business, family, and life.

These resources for bloggers are items that I actually use (or have used) and they help me find a way to hold everything together. Some are affiliate links and some are just available because I couldn’t live without them and I wanted you to know… even thought that aren’t paying me.

Wishing you much success,

Laptop & Accessories

Macbook Pro

Apple MacBook Pro 13.3-inch Laptop

I have used a TON of computers throughout my blogging career. My husband even teases me that I go through computers faster than anyone he knows. So, I upgraded to a MacBook Pro from a Windows-based system a couple of years ago.

The MacBook has withstood more wear and tear than any of the other computers, but it did take some adjustment getting used to the Apple system.

On-Stage LPT5000 Laptop Computer Stand

For webinars and hangouts, I don’t want to be looking down at my laptop camera. It just isn’t a flattering angle. Using the Laptop Computer Stand keeps the webcam closer to eye-level.

WD 1TB Black My Passport Portable External Hard Drive

Because I have a ton of courses, printables, ebooks, videos, and photos, I need a reliable way to store these heavy files. Once a year, I move all of last year’s folders off my computer and on to the My Passport Portable External Hard Drive.

FitDesk v2.0 Desk Exercise Bike with Massage Bar

Although not something I own, I am seriously thinking about purchasing this laptop desk bike. Blogging a a very sedentary career… just as my FitBit reminds me each time I wear it. I think this bike would be an awesome way to stay moving while working and would be easier on my joints than a treadmill desk.

Photography & Video Gear

Canon EOS Rebel T6i Digital SLR

If you need an amazing camera for photography and video, the Canon EOS Rebel T6i Digital SLR cannot be beat… except maybe by its big (and more expensive) brother the Canon 70D. But I love the Canon T6i.

For food photography, I have heard amazing things about upgrading to a 50mm lens instead of using the default lens that comes with the camera kit.

Movo PM10 Deluxe Lavalier Lapel Clip-on Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone

If I need an audio boost from my iPhone or Canon T6i, I use a lavalier lapel microphone. Microphones seem to come in all shapes, sizes and prices, but this little guy works well for me and is inexpensive.

LimoStudio 700W Photography Softbox Light Lighting Kit Photo Equipment Soft Studio Light Softbox

To enhance lighting during the low-light season, I use this continuous lighting soft box set for both live video and photography. When set up, it is bulky but the results are fabulous, and the entire kit can be taken down to store in a small bag.

If I need to bounce light around, I have a set of reflectors.

dimmable lighting for video

NEEWER® 160 LED CN-160 Dimmable Ultra High Power Panel

The newest addition to my collection of video tools is the NEEWER® Dimmable Ultra High Power Panel. Change the intensity easily and use one of the included filters for more effect.

AmazonBasics Lightweight Tripod

I have used several tripods and this is my favorite! Unfortunately, I bought this basic tripod for my husband. So I have to sneak it away from him when I need it.

The tripod can be made taller than most of the others I own and still holds my camera securely even when I use a boom.

StayblCam iPhone & GoPro Stabilizer

When shooting video of my children outside for their YouTube channel, I use the StayblCam to keep the video clips steady and professional. Holding the StayblCam by the center ring takes some practice but it makes a huge difference.

Live Video Tools

Apple iPhone 6 16GB Factory Unlocked GSM Cell Phone

I work social media from my iPhone 6, take photos, record video, host hangouts… it is probably the most used tool in my arsenal.

Square Jellyfish Spring Tripod Mount for Smart Phones

You do not need an expensive tripod for live video. I use the Square Jellyfish on a standard tripod. I really like that the tripod mount holds my iPhone securely and pops in / out easily.

I have a larger tripod mount for my iPad that is a little trickier to use but still super easy.

Apple iPad Mini

My eye sight is not what it used to be so I find it much easier to live broadcast from my iPad Mini. However, the image resolution is as nice as when I use my iPhone 6.

Domains and Blog Hosting

Your domain is the address for your blog and will probably be the least expensive thing you ever purchase for your business.

GoDaddy - blog resources

GoDaddy

I personally buy all of my domains from GoDaddy. If you are looking for an alternative, you should consider NameCheap.

Rainmaker Platform

Inspired Bloggers University is hosted by Rainmaker, the same people who brought you StudioPress. Rainmaker is an all-inclusive hosting option but is overkill for most bloggers.

SiteGround

If you are brand new to blogging, I recommend SiteGround. Their customer service is impeccable and they will even move you from your current host for free. You can also get a free domain through SiteGround if needed.

Rack Geek

If your blog has grown past 100,000 page view a month, I recommend Rack Geek. If you visit their website, it will say they are under construction but I know a guy who can get you in. Just send me an email for a referral.

Rack Geek supports websites receiving millions of page views a month with ZERO down time.

WordPress Themes

StudioPress

StudioPress (Genesis Framework) is the foundation for all of my websites. Since I do not write code, I use the Genesis Framework and child themes to design and personalize my websites while maintaining a clean theme optimized for SEO.

Restored316 Designs

My blog at MeetPenny.com uses a child theme from Restored 316 Designs. These themes are lovely, targeted towards women, and constructed on the highly-recommended Genesis Framework.
